Dr Robin Widdowson commented -- Initially I found the book a little hard to get into as I found the opening chapters a bit patronizing and 'wishy- washy'. However the practical side of the book is excellent and would be a 'must read' by any doctor, especially those going into practice with other doctors.
Dr Jenny Brockis commented-- This is very well written book, It's comprehensive, informative, not bossy and easy to read. I think the layout of contents and chapters works really well. The use of case studies really adds to the impact of the points being made and shows just how varied the different situations can be.
There is lots of "How To" which is essential having previously indicated all the pitfalls that can waylay us otherwise earlier in the book.
My first thoughts were that this book needs to be read by every Doctor entering into either General Practice or Specialist Practice I only wish it had been available years ago when I was running my own Practice! Medical School did not prepare us in any way to deal with running our Practice as a business and sadly too many Doctors have lost out through either poor or
lack of advice about succession planning."
Some of the reading was quite uncomfortable as it reminded me how my own personal outcome could have been so different.
I fell into the situational error group where we had covered most bases but not all.....
Recognising the likely triggers for leaving a practice is so important.
I think this book is very timely for the many Practitioners who will be looking to sell their practices in the not too distant future and offers an enormous amount of very practical advice in a logical well set out format.
